Avina Joshi awarded Fulbright-Fogarty Global Health Student Fellowship
School of Medicine student Avina Joshi will combine her interests in global health and obstetrics and gynecology when she spends nine months in Ghana studying knowledge and attitudes about preeclampsia. She will be conducting her public health-focused research as one of 20 recipients nationwide of a Fulbright-Fogarty Award in Public Health. Read more about her story here.
Seeing the opportunity to improve the quality of care when patients speak little or no English, recent GSN graduate Jamie Kerr, DNP, created a training session to educate Nurse Practitioner Students on how to effectively work with medical interpreters as part of the health care team.

The UMass Medical School chapter of the Gold Humanism Honor Society inducted 24 School of Medicine students as members on May 30. Six residents and four faculty members were also inducted into the society.
