For Faculty and Staff
The Office of Communications (OC) is here to help you get your news to the UMMS community as well as local, national and international media. We are committed to gathering and distributing information that will allow us to spotlight the stories that make the UMass Medical School community so remarkable: the interesting people, the groundbreaking research, the innovative teaching and meaningful community engagement that happen here every day. We do this in two ways:
- UMassMedNow, a dynamic news Web site featuring original content showcasing the breadth and depth of UMMS. OC content producers actively seek out interesting stories throughout the UMass Medical School community, and look for creative ways to tell those stories.
- Placing faculty experts and UMMS news in top print, broadcast and online media markets. Our expert media relations team will work with you to identify newsworthy events and publications, determine the best way to release the story and draw on an extensive list of media contacts to distribute the information.
The Office of Communications also maintains a suite of tools, including logos and photos, which adhere to UMass Medical School's identity guidelines and can be used by faculty and staff. Our media team manages the communications process during campus emergencies, and our office is the main distribution channel for leadership and institutional messages. More detailed information is provided through the links below.
This is the portal through which both internal and external audiences can learn about UMMS and stay connected to the institution. If you have a story idea, contact an OC staff member or e-mail us at [email protected].
Our team members are former print and broadcast journalists skilled at making the pitch and interview process easy on faculty and reporters alike. Click here to learn about how we connect UMMS experts with the media.
